  21. This guide contains the information you need to install our
  22. Windows 95 drivers and tools for your Hercules product.

  25. Running the SETUP Program
  26. =========================
  27.  
  28. If you received this software release on diskettes, you'll find the
  29. SETUP.EXE program on Disk 1 of our Windows 95 Driver and Utilities
  30. diskettes -- the very same diskette that contains this README.TXT
  31. file.  If you've downloaded our software from one of our online
  32. services, you'll find the SETUP.EXE in the archive -- it will be in
  33. the same directory as is this README.TXT file.
  34.  
  35. To install the driver and utilities, just run our SETUP.EXE program.
  36. If you run it from the task bar, make sure you type the entire path to
  37. the directory that contains SETUP.EXE.  Otherwise, you might
  38. accidentally launch somebody else's setup program.
  39.  
  40. SETUP.EXE can install the Power Drive driver, our new Touch 95<tm> and
  41. Hercules Entertainment Center<tm> utilities, or both.  To
  42. automatically install everything, choose the "Typical" option when
  43. using Setup's "wizard" installation interface.  There's nothing more
  44. to do!

  47. What's New In This Release
  48. ==========================

  50. 1.  Updated 3D driver VG96DD32.DLL to fix problems with games like 
  51.     MechWarrior2-Mercernaries, 3DFX.
  52.  
  53. 2.  Updated PROMTN.DRV to resolve conflicts with Creative Labs AWE series
  54.     SoundBlasters.
  55.

  57. Known Limitations
  58. =================
  59.  
  60. 1.  Some games may do hardware calls to IRQ 9 to control the video.
  61.     This board does not support IRQ 9, so these games may not
  62.     work correctly.
  63.  
  64. 2.  The Alliance AT3D chip is not recognized at this time by Windows 95's
  65.     or Windows NT 4.0's Plug and Play feature.  If the board is
  66.     physically removed and then replaced, a reselection of the video
  67.     driver through Display Properties may be required.
  68.  
  69. 3.  AVI playback may result in some "noise" being displayed on the screen
  70.     in both 8-bit and 32-bit modes.  This is not common to all system
  71.     configurations so you may not experience any problems.
  72.  
  73. 4.  With a Direct3D application running in a WINDOW in 1280x1024 at 16bpp,
  74.     you may have "dropped" pixels or artifacts.  This should not happen
  75.     when running in a full-screen Direct3D session.
  76.  
  77. 5.  With a Direct3D application running in a WINDOW in 1024x768x16bpp at
  78.     120Hz, you may have some noise on that Direct3D window and desktop.
